Brno Dam
The Brno Dam retains water from the Svratka River. It is best known, among other things, for its boat trips which are provided by six environmentally friendly steamboats which run on electric power. Based on their itineraries, they run seasonally every year from April to October. The boats are operated by the Brno public transport company. The boat trips are 9.3 km long, with 11 stops [Brno-Bystrc, Kozí Horka (Goat's Hill), Sokolské koupaliště (Sokol Pool), U Kotvy (At the Anchor), Osada (Colony), Rokle (Gorge), Cyklistická (For Cyclists), Hrad Veveří (Veveří Castle), Mečkov, Skály (Rocks) and Veverská Bítýška]. Without doubt, Veveří Castle is definitely the most appealing stop. From the dock, you can walk to a beautiful wooden bridge, cross it and continue to the castle which is open to public. Since 2004, a special transport ticket exists that is also valid for the Brno ZOO and trams. The ZOO is situated one tram stop away from the Bystrc port.
